Precursor to Official Day One

The poor forests.
This program is based on the concept of distributed learning.
Which Wiki describes as:

a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy and andragogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site". Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time and through other online ways[1]. Distance education courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason including the taking of examinations is considered to be a hybrid or blended course of study.

Basically, I'm doing a whole lot of stuff online and at random face-to-face practica and cluster meetings. I get to use my computer skills AND my people skills.
Today, I learned I need to buy a printer.
There was just too much stuff to keep track of that my work laptop crapped out on me on more than one occasion. Or maybe, I just need to stop trying to do all this on my work laptop.
Perhaps even not doing any of it at work, period.
Nah. It'll be fine.
FELIX was less intimidating today.
However, I think I killed half of Oregon's population of trees trying to print out some of the references that I will need to continue utilizing for quite awhile.
I felt guilty for a little while... doing school at work.
And then remembered how amazingly infuriated I was at people today (I even had rage-inspired goosebumps) telling me what I can and cannot do in my job... and didn't care.
Even had a smile on my face. But I mourned the fallen (recycled) trees for awhile.
I had to remind myself a lot last night around 9:30... and 10, 11, 12, 1:30 am... that I got my Masters once and I really did quite well. Much better than undergrad, actually. A full 1.2 gradepoints higher as a matter of fact.
I do much better when I'm interested in a subject and can focus fully on things I want to learn about.
I can do this.
And it's going to be fun.
And then we're going to move to Denver. Or Boulder. Or some mountainesque place with snow and pediatric palliative and hospice care programs. And rain on occasion, if I can find it.

  1. Fun is all relative, baby.

I started making a pretend forest and naming the trees. They still talk to me from time to time.
