Meet FELIX

I was merely on-call today and still in my jammies at two p.m. when I decided to check my email.
Not recognizing the sender of this one, I clicked and found that, lo and behold, my log-in information for the new student orientation on FELIX (GradSchool Educational Link and Information eXchange) had come a day early! Being the overachiever that I try to be, I decided to give it a whirl and explore a little.
*Enter massive panic attack*
I was expecting a little disorientation with a new database and system, but what I was definitely NOT anticipating was the enormous sense of being overwhelmed with information about my next few weeks' tasks, classes to get ready for classes, schedule of orientation and , "Please introduce yourself to all of us, we're dying to get to know you... with one fact we wouldn't know just by looking at you" requests.
First of all, I hate that. Trying to sound intelligent while coming up with something interesting and yet invisible to the naked eye.
Secondly, I'm not so good when I haven't had my L-Carnitine and am still in my pyjamas.
Thirdly, I was not looking forward to statistics in the first place and I'm terrified of public speaking and you're telling me now, six weeks in advance, that I have to worry about all of this within my first 36 hours of orientation in March?!

Aye carumba.
Numerous deep breaths, jumping jacks, and bottles of Crystal Light later, I'm ready to look at all of this stuff again.
Tomorrow. FELIX can wait until tomorrow.
I don't have to have anything done until Wednesday, but I'm going to start the year off right, and be proactive and less procrastinatory.

Just as a side note... $130,000 is a huge amount of money, geez.
